Sourdough batter should smell slightly beerish and have a healthy flora to its appearences. TO MAKE A SOURDOUGH STARTER: TAKE A LARGE CLEAN JAR AND ADD 1 c FLOUR AND ENOUGH WARM WATER TO MAKE A THIN GRUEL. ADD 1 TABLESPOON SUGAR AND 1 ts YEAST. COVER AND LET STAND 1 TO TWO DAYS ROOM TEMP.
