MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06 Title: Gingerbread Loaves Categories: Quickbreads Yield: 1 Servings MMMMM---------------------------BREAD-------------------------------- 1 c Firmly packed brown sugar 1 c Butter or margarine; Softened 2 Eggs 1 c Molasses 1 c Boiling water 1 ts Baking soda 2 3/4 Cup All-purpose flour 2 ts Baking powder 4 ts Ginger 2 ts Cinnamon 1 ts Allspice 1 ts Cloves 1/4 ts Salt MMMMM---------------------------GLAZE-------------------------------- 1/2 c Powdered sugar 2 tb Lemon juice 1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease two 8 x 4-inch loaf pans. In large bowl, combine brown sugar and butter; beat until light and fluffy. Add eggs; beat well. In small bowl, combine molasses, water, and baking soda; mix well. Beat into brown sugar mixture. 2. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. Gradually add flour and all remaining bread ingredients; mix well. Spoon batter into greased pans. 3. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pans on wire rack for 15 minutes. Remove from pans; cool 1 hour 15 minutes or until completely cooled. 4. In small bowl, combine glaze ingredients; blend well. Brush cooled loaves with glaze.
