MMMMM----- Meal-Master Recipe Title: Anise Fritters Categories: Doughnuts Yield: 10 1 tb Sugar 1/4 ts Salt 2 tb Anise seeds 185 g Plain flour [6oz] 1 lg Egg Oil for deep frying Sugar for coating In a large saucepan, combine 1 cup water with the sugar, salt and anise seeds and bring to the boil. Add the flour all at once and beat with a wooden spoon until smooth. Off the heat, add the egg and beat until thoroughly incorporated. In a deep fryer, heat the oil to 190^C/375^F on a frying thermometer. Force the mixture through a pastry bag fitted with a large tip [or use a large funnel] and fry in long strips in the oil until golden.
