MMMMM----- Meal-Master Recipe Title: Crullers Categories: Doughnuts Yield: 4 1 3/4 c All purpose flour 1/2 ts Salt 1/2 ts Ground nutmeg 1/4 ts Ground mace 1/2 c Granulated sugar 1/4 c Butter or margarine 2 Eggs 2 tb Milk Shortening or cooking oil for deep fat frying. In bowl stir together flour, salt, nutmeg and mace. Set aside. In large bowl cream together granulated sugar and butter or margarine till light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beat well after each addition. Beat in milk (batter may appear slightly curdled) Stir in the flour mixture, cover and chill t least 1 hour. On lightly floured surface, roll half the dough (rolling in one direction only so that doughnuts will puff) into a 16 x 8 inch rectangle. Cut into 2 inch squares (do not reroll). If desired use pastry wheel for decorative edges. Repeat with the remaining dough. Fry in hot fat (375 degrees) about 45 seconds per side or till golden brown, turning once.
