MMMMM----- Meal-Master Recipe Title: Buttermilk Doughnuts Categories: Doughnuts Yield: 4 3 1/4 c ALL PURPOSE FLOUR 1 ts BAKING SODA 1/2 ts BAKING POWDER 1/2 ts GROUND NUTMEG 1/2 ts SALT 2 SLIGHTLY BEATEN EGGS 1/2 c SUGAR 2 tb BUTTER OR MARGARINE, MELTED 1 c BUTTERMILK (1 CUP MILK SOURED WITH 1 TABLESPOON VINEGAR) SHORTENING OR COOKING OIL FOR DEEP FAT FRYING In mixing bowl stir together flour, baking soda, baking powder, nutmeg and salt. Set aside. In large mixing bowl beat eggs and sugar till thick and lemon colored. Stir in melted butter or margarine. Add flour mixture and butter and milk alternately to egg mixture. Beat just till blended after each addition. Cover, chill dough about 2 hours. Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface. Roll to 1/2" thickness, cut with doughnut cutter. Fry in deep fat (37 degrees) about 1 minute on each side, till golden brown, turning once. Drain on paper toweling. Makes 18. From: Annetiqua@aol.Com
